Evan Barton
Evan Barton is a long-time Tulsan who graduated from The Booker T. Washington High School and immensely enjoys the love that Tulsa has offered him throughout his life. Born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Evan’s Indigenous background informs his consideration for community and passion for opportunity creation and economic development for Tulsa and Northeast Oklahoma. Evan is the host of Grow With Us, a Talent inTulsa podcast.
Evan has worked in the economic development space in Tulsa since his return to Tulsa in 2020. Starting in operations and entrepreneurial development at Atento Capital and then moving to talent attraction and development at inTulsa Initiatives, Evan’s approach to economic development has always centered around the unique elements of Tulsa’s ecosystem. Evan attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he achieved a Bachelor’s in Native American Studies with minors in French and Sociology.
Evan interned locally at City Year Tulsa during the winter of 2019, working on Corps Member learning & development. Additionally, Evan interned for the College Board in New York City, where he got the opportunity to analyze and suggest ways for the organization to increase their Indigenous student outreach and impact through program development and resource provision.
Evan’s passion for his work at Campus Tulsa comes from the value he sees in creating accessible on-the-job experiences for students. Many students have historically not had access to internships, and the work of Campus Tulsa aims to diversify the internship space for any student seeking opportunities in Tulsa. Evan seeks to be compassionate, authentic, and empathetic inside and outside the workplace. Evan manages Campus Tulsa’s social media, email communications with employers, students, university faculty/staff, and data infrastructure.
Evan’s favorite things to do in Tulsa are seeing various touring acts in the Arts District and going to events put on by local artists and organizations. Evan enjoys having his family live close by in Tulsa.
